MCC MT

Software package MCC MT (Monte Carlo Calculation Multi Thread) is intended for 3D-modelling of physical experiments and calculation of radiation detectors response functions using Monte-Carlo method. MCC MT simulates interaction between gamma quanta, electrons, positrons and material in the energy range of 10 keV – 10 MeV. Transport processes for fast heavy charged particles are simulated in the energy range of 10 keV – 1 GeV.
One of the important features of software product MCC MT is advanced user interface which allows an operator acquainted with the work in standard Windows environment creating complicated three-dimensional geometric objects. The operator can assign properties of appropriate materials to these objects, determine objects as detectors, set an exposure value, connect different radiation sources including taking into account cascade processes. Calculation data are displayed on the monitor as spectra of energy absorbed by a certain detector and may be transformed into detector response functions using a special program unit.

Special features

• The program allows parallel simultaneous simulation using all processing units and cores of the system. It makes possible to reduce task calculation time approximately as much times as the number of system cores.
• A new graphic interface was included in the program. Detailed representation of particles trajectories and scene models are developed based on Open GL vector graphics technology. A few new modes for model presentation were added to the program – as drawings, as sections, using transparency etc.
• Several new primitive elements were included in the software to enhance the program in modeling of physical experiments. New figures disc, pseudo-disc were added.
• The algorithm used for simulation of interaction between electrons, positrons and material was significantly amended, allowing enhancing calculation precision. The results of comparison to experimental data were published in scientific research papers.
• Based on data base EEDL and SRIM code a program unit was created to calculate paths of electrons, positrons and heavy particles in the material. This unit simplifies considerably user’s work.
• The algorithm of cascade source generation, simulating all radioactive decay aspects including X-ray radiation, was developed.
Software package MCC MT was certificated in All-Russia D.I. Mendeleyev Scientific and Research Institute for Metrology (Vniim) (FGUP "D.I.Mendeleyev VNIIM").
