Phantoms of lungs (PL-03T / PLP-05T phantoms)

The phantom PL-03T consists of the model of a trunk of an adult person and the set of models of lungs containing homogeneously distributed gamma-emitting radionuclides. The models of lungs are made of composite foamed material; their volume, density, and configuration are in agreement with recommendations of the International Commission on Radiation Protection.

More sophisticated phantom of lungs of adult man PLP-05T has been developed for calibration of Pu-239 and Am-241 in vivo measurement technique. Model of trunk is made from composition of tissue- and bone-equivalent plastic materials. Foamed material of lungs contains uniformly distributed Pu-239 or Am-241. Eight additional point sources of Pu-239 or Am-241 simulate major limph nodes located in the lung gate area.
